The Trap Triggered on Schedule — Now the Real Leg Down Begins
The Gap is Filling. The Distribution is Visible. The Clock is Ticking.
Back on May 13, I warned:
“We are now entering the window.
Wednesday is pivot day.
Friday is OpEx.
Next Monday is the structural flip.”
– May 13, The Daily Consensus
That call played out perfectly.
Friday (May 17): We spiked above 5,920 on OpEx.
Monday (May 20): One more push above.
Tuesday through Friday: Full selloff began and accelerated.
This was a textbook throw-over — a trap above resistance to sucker in buyers just before dealer flows flip. There was no meaningful close or continuation above 5,920. That’s your confirmation:
“If we break above 5920 with confirmation — I’ll revisit the thesis.
Until then? We are done here. This is the top of the trap.
The risk-reward is absolutely terrible.”
– May 13
Friday closed around 5,800.
And this morning, we opened near 5,900 again on a short-lived pop from the tax bill. But nothing has structurally changed — and the trap is still wide open.

The 5,800–6,100 range was — and still is — a giant distribution zone. Even this morning’s futures bounce is just another push back into the trap.
We’ve started filling the first real gap:
“We started filling the gap from 5,787 to 5,690. 5,700 is likely next.”
If that breaks, 5,300 is next.
But the bigger picture?
This isn’t just about filling gaps.
“We have a greater selloff coming...
This leg will go down to 5,400–5,500…
But eventually down to 4,400–4,500 during this leg.”

Let’s run the numbers again:
Upside if I’m wrong: 4–5%
Downside if I’m right: 10–30%
COT still shows pros short, asset managers long
VIX bottomed at 17.13, now at 20+
“Puts are mispriced. Hedging now is a calculated advantage, not fear.”

Despite every mainstream headline trying to convince you otherwise, nothing under the hood has improved:
Let’s check under the hood:
Monthly breadth? Even more bearish than last month.
Unemployment? Rising.
Inflation? Cooling fast.
Deflation? Already in play.
COT report? Still skewed:
Hedge funds: Short
Dealers: Short
Asset managers: Still long
There’s no momentum here — just mechanics and illusion. We don’t have inflation to prop up the market. We have deflation. It’s even worse for the market. Earnings are going to be terrible.

The bond trade hasn’t broken — but we lost $85.
TLT sadly did not hold 85... below 83.30 will give you a solid basis to go off of.
If we reclaim $85 = confirmation of the bottom.
Below 82.42 = structural breakdown.
Long-term horizon (3–5 years)? Still a high-upside setup.
Short-term? Watch your levels.

“If Bitcoin can’t hold above its current high — basically 71,110 — then it’s a rug.”
– May 27
Above 71,110 = strength
Below 71,110 = risk opens
ETH = even weaker

Tariffs? Didn’t even take effect yet.
Tax bill? Headline bounce only.
Earnings? Still under pressure.
Inflation? Gone.
Valuations? Back to extremes.
I wasn’t going to buy it three months ago…
Now we’re back at those valuations, but no meaningful growth has happened.
This isn’t growth. It’s complacency.
This is the last gasp of a wave that already crested.
My Portfolio (As of May 27, 2025)
✅ Profits locked at 5,900
✅ Holding LEAP puts on SPX, QQQ
✅ 70–90% cash
✅ Starter long in $TLT (tight stop at 83.30)
✅ Only equity long: $GOOGL
“Google has a P/E of 19 vs Microsoft at 35. Would you rather pay $19 or $35 to make a dollar?”
❌ Avoiding NVDA, MSFT
“Nothing underneath has changed... these are just inflated names set to get hit hard.”
Final Word: The Easy Part Is Over
“The complacency wave gave you 22% from 4,800 to 5,900. That was the gift.”
– May 13“Now comes the hard part. And the smart part.”
– May 27
You don’t need to short the top.
You just need to not be the one left holding the bag when reality sets in.
