Dead Cat Bounce or New Bull?
Let me say this up front: this is not the beginning of a new bull market—this is a bear market rally. A complacency wave, a short squeeze, a VIX crush. Whatever you want to call it, it’s not real buying, and it’s not sustainable.
We just rallied 13% off the lows, exactly as I forecasted in my last post. I said we’d get a 7–13% squeeze, and here we are. Right on cue.

What’s Really Happening
Let’s zoom out. The Fed has been plugging the market quietly—buying treasuries, crushing volatility, and forcing liquidity into risk assets. You can see the result on SPX, TLT, and especially the VIX. But this is not healthy market behavior—this is forced stability.
This 13% rally? It's not accumulation. It's unwinding.
Volume is weak
Breadth is poor
No confirmation across sectors
This is a squeeze, not strength. The algorithms are doing their job—flipping shorts, gunning stops, drawing in late longs.

We’re back at first major resistance—around 5,500 on SPX. If you were lucky or smart enough to buy at the lows, congrats. Now don’t be a fool. This is your opportunity to trim, lighten up, or hedge.
You don’t get a 13% rip in a real bull market without real buying—and this isn’t that.
No QE yet
No rate cuts yet
No capitulation event yet
Until we get QE + rate cuts, there is no true bottom. That’s when you go all-in. Not now.
The True Bottom? Still Coming…
I've said this before and I’ll say it again:
Anything below the 2022 bottom (~3,500)
is a generational buying opportunity.
We haven’t hit that yet. In fact, the most logical next leg down is:
$3,400 – the top of COVID
Possibly $3,300 flat – a massive long-term support zone
That’s where the market resets. Not at 4,800. Not at 5,500.

Want to know when the next leg down begins? Watch the VIX.
Right now, VIX is at ~33, but earlier this week it was over 50. A 35% collapse in volatility is exactly what caused this rally. It's all about volatility suppression.
Here’s how to trade it:
Wait for VIX to drift back down below 20–23
That’s when you start moving to cash
Start building short positions, or buy protective puts
Don’t short yet—wait for the VIX to normalize. This rally has more gas if they keep crushing vol.
Next key date: April 17 – OPEX.
2 days before or after could mark the next major turn.
If VIX stays low into May OPEX, we could see one final squeeze. After that? Sell in May and run away.

Here’s the roadmap I’m using right now:
Scenarios:
Fed flips and starts QE?
Market explodes to new ATH
SPX 6,000+ is in play
No QE + No Rate Cuts?
We’re still mid-cycle in the drawdown
SPX has 1,700 points left to fall from 5,000
Portfolio Allocation:
50% Stocks (tactical)
25–40% TLT (front-running rate cuts)
10–25% Cash or Short-term T-Bills
If you’re uncomfortable in this chop, stay in cash. But don’t ignore the roadmap. The bear isn’t done.
TL;DR
This is a bear market rally (aka complacency wave)
Sell strength above 5,500 SPX
Wait for VIX below 20–23 to rotate into defense
True bottom = under 3,500
Next key date = April 17 OPEX
QE = ATHs. No QE = More Pain.
Don’t get hypnotized by headlines. Tariffs didn’t cause this. Tariffs won’t save it. This is about the Fed, liquidity, volatility, and narrative control.
Watch the VIX. Watch the Fed. And don’t hold the bag.
